I am so glad it’s finally Friday; this week has wiped me out!
Thank God for pumpkin pancakes.
And what looks like a whole lotta maple syrup.
I cannot even begin to describe the deliciousness of this breakfast.
Nor can I describe my excitement over having last night’s leftovers for lunch today.
Or until I actually opened my lunch bag, that is.
Upon opening said lunch bag, I discovered that much to my dismay, I had packed cold noodles and the tupperware container with the 1/2 can of chickpeas I had not used in my sauce last night.
Not cold noodles and the tupperware container actually housing the sauce.
But the my good boss pulled through and had brought me another scone since I so enjoyed the one he shared with me yesterday.
So I paired that with cold noodles, chickpeas and some rando salad dressing I found in the fridge.
Not a veg in sight.
In other news, I am thinking I shall have a salad or veg soup for dinner.
As the sun has yet to show it’s cheery face today, I’ll probably go with the soup option.

I’ve been doing some thinking lately. [Yes, contrary to popular belief, I do have a brain, and I do use it to think.] Lately I’ve been using said brain to think about vegetarianism.
I never really “officially” announced my switch to vegetarianism on here, and I think it’s because I was never completely on board with the switch. I’m not comfortable labeling my eating style, and honestly I don’t love the idea of limiting my diet. I addressed that very issue in this post, in fact.
This summer though, I switched to vegetarianism because I honestly ate very little to no red meat or chicken. In fact the thought of eating either of those items is very unappealing to me. I had been eating a pescatarian based diet for a while and that worked for me, so the switch to vegetarianism just seemed natural.
Why fix something that’s not broken, you ask?
That’s what I’m asking myself.
I still don’t feel comfortable eating red meat or chicken, but I really don’t have a problem with eating fish.
In fact, I think that a pescatarian diet works well for me, and I’m happy with it.
And I really miss sushi.
The point I am getting to here is, that while for the most part I am going to stick with a vegetarian diet; I’m not going to beat myself up for enjoying a good California roll or an incredible crab dip.
What works for me is eating what makes me happy, and not limiting my choices.
I’m probably not going to be caught eating a steak any time soon, but a fish taco? Now that’s a possibility.

hahhah I’m laughing at the fact you left the good part of your lunch at home !
So yeah, why label yourself? You don’t eat meat but you’re not vegetarian because you eat fish. I love vegetarian/vegan food but I’m not gonna go vegetarian any time soon. Been there, done that. Didn’t work so good, for me.
Those pancakes look so good!
everyone’s having pumpkin pancakes lately! i gotta make some soon.
aww i am sorry you forgot your lunch!

Labels are so tough! Everyone wants to know what kind of foodie you are, but at the same time labeling limits what you eat.
I was a strict vegetarian for a few years, then started eating fish, and now eat non-red meat every once in a while. When I first started eating meat again, I felt like people would look at me funny when I ate meat – even if they were having the exact same meal! Labels are way too limiting and life is too short to deny yourself something just because it doesn’t fit under some category people want to put you in!
End rant.
Do what’s right for you.
Sorry about your lunchie
I’m a pescatarian. I don’t really “label” myself as that, because I don’t really have a method for my madness except that IT’S WHAT WORKS FOR ME! No need for labels, just eat what you love and love what you eat
Heck yes. It is scone Friday in my world, and you joined the club.
I keep on trying to remember to buy pumpkin at the store to make pumpkin pancakes. I must remember this weekend!
Great outlook! I think labels are a bit ridiculous too. Each individual eats so differently, I think it’s unfair to put labels to people!!
thats exactly how I feel. However I ate some narley fish yesterday and got sick…..my body just couldn’t take it after months of no fish….what to do?? i really hope u are gonna enter the scavenger hunt for next week!!! have a wonderful friday!
xoxoxoxo,
lolo
Good philosophy
That’s how I feel, too. I eat a lot of vegetarian stuff, but I don’t like ruling anything out, either. Especially seafood… mmmm
that’s another reason I don’t plan on labeling myself either. Fitting into that label just becomes a restriction, and I don’t need anything else to stress me out or bother me.
I eat what I want when I want it, mostly healthy, with some splurges.
I hate labels. I say I am a vegetarian if people ask but I there was a time when I would eat fish and eggs (now I don’t) and sometimes I want vegan meals. It is so difficult because things changes. Labels are lame.
Do whatever works for you. I really miss my sushi, so I may go back to eating just fish. Still no desire to eat red meat again but i didn’t eat a lot before anyways.
I love your food philosophy! You do whatever works for you! No judgments here!
Lately every single family member of mine has asked if I’m “really a vegetarian,” as if I’m supposed to know what that means anyway! I’ve told them that the only label I give myself is “awesome.”
girl…do what works for YOUUUUUUUU!
i am diggin’ your pancake lovin’.
Want. Those. Pancakes. Simple as that. LOL
If it’s been a while since you’ve put any kind of meat, fish or otherwise in your body – be leary of your body’s reaction the first time back. It can getcha the first time. I’d go in with a toe instead of your whole foot, so to speak.
Anywhootie – have a great day!
these past couple of days have been such soup and salad days! i love it! buuut i would also love some sunshine!
The pictures of those pancakes are just evil. I still have 5 of my pumpkin pancakes (which I totally made after you posted yours from the weekend) in the fridge but I’m OUT of syrup!!!! And I just can’t eat them without syrup. Talk about epic fails!!
And I say eat whatever makes you happy! If you have some fish from time to time – good for you! No need to put yourself in a little labeled box
love this post. totally agree that diet labels are unnecessary. i think we need to follow our bodies cues. if you want fish, and you enjoy, and it doesn’t disturb your health–there’s really no reason to avoid it for the sake of abiding my some prescribed diet, right?
You know I feel you 100% on that issue. 100%. Sushi is my biggest missing link as well.
labels schmabellllllls.. do whatever works for you honey
Ugh, I hate being labled as something when it comes to eats. I probably eat 90% Vegetarian but I couldn’t live without fish and on a rare occassion, I will eat chicken/turkey. It’s too difficult to explain this to people and easier just to say “I’m vegetarain” so I totally understand where you are coming from.
I say, EAT THE WAY YOU WANT. No lables, no restrictions, just do what works best for you and your body. What everyone else thinks about it is none of your business.
Have a fantastic weekend my dear.
Yum everytime I see you pumpkin pancakes I kick myself for not making them that morning!
Yeah, I totally hate the eating labels…and people who judge based on them. Just eat how you want!
I love the attitude about eating and labels. I agree with you. I think too many people get caught up in what is and isn’t okay to eat for certain labels. I say, “Who cares!” eat what you are comfortable and happy with.
Ahh the pumpkin pancakes look delicious! I have to make those soon!!
I’m basically a pescatarian too but I also hate the labels. If you ever feel like eating something else, people feel the need to remind you of “what you are”. Eat whatever you want girl!
I haven’t had maple syrup in soo long! Yummm
I didn’t know there was such a thing as a “pescatarian” but (after reading the definition that you thoughtfully included) I guess that is basically what I have been for a few years now. Who knew?
speaking of fish tacos…we gotta make time for Cabo!
[...] that means I can eat whatever, whenever I want. And since I’ve been practicing a vegetarian diet until last Friday, that unfortunately = a lot of carbs. Which in turn = an unfortunate little weight gain. Guys, I [...]
